The ugly side of lawmaking

"As the old saying goes, laws and sausages are two things you don’t want to see made. That’s certainly been true of the process for getting citizen-led initiatives on the ballot for Boulder voters to consider this November.

And we’re using the word 'process' very loosely here. Over the last few months, it’s seemed like the city’s rules and the manner in which they’re applied have been in a constant state of flux.

That was true last week, as city officials dealt with two proposed ballot initiatives in very different ways."
